PROJECTS THAT ARE URGENTLY
NEEDING YOUR HELP
If you'd like to assist these projects, please contact us at info@beahero.org, or give us a call at (250) 717-1003.
- Malawi, Africa – immediate need for $7,000.00 USD
Currently there are thousands dying in Malawi from water borne diseases since most of the available water is of such poor quality. Be A Hero is partnering with Samaritan’s Purse and Reviver Ministries to build concrete filters with sand systems. These filters will cost us only $100.00 each. We need at least to build at least 70 of these units to save lives in this area.
- Goma, Congo - Immediate need for $20,000.00 USD.
The Congolese Civil War has created a state of panic and chaos for hundreds of refugees. Food prices have escalated astronomically, making it impossible for the people to obtain nourishment. Rebels have taken over the farms, stolen the livestock and are withholding supplies from the rest of the population. Our orphans there are suffering tremendously. We have a strategic plan to get food for these precious people. Before the end of January Be A Hero and Art Lucier of British Columbia will lead a group of fearless care-givers into the heart of this conflict and bring help and materials to build a rock wall with barbed wire on top, which will protect the little children from the terror of the rebels.
- Phnom Penh, Cambodia - The need is for $10,000.00 USD. Phnom Penh has a booming national business. It’s called the sex-trade. Children are being sold like animals and used to make money. We can save them. This program will intercept children targeted for the sex trade in northern Cambodia on the Thai border. Presently we have 12 acres of land which is allocated to facilitate 4 houses able to handle 24 orphans each. What we need is the finances to build these homes. Children will be educated and trained, and a micro business developed to enable them to be self-sustaining.
- Kitale, Kenya – Immediate Need for $10,000.00 USD for the first 20 homes of 500. Widows and orphans are squatting on land they don’t own but are being forced to leave. Be A Hero and HOPE for the nations are partnering together with the government in a new agricultural program on 13 acres of free land provided by the government. Thankfully they are taking advice to include in the agricultural program the building of 100 ‘mud earth homes’ for the poorest of the poor. One hundred families with orphaned children will be benefiting. A widow and four orphans or displaced children will live in a unit. All the families on the land will be part of the make work agricultural program of sustainability. A donation of $500.00 will build a home.
- Pasig City (Greater Manila City), The Philippines
Immediate need for $80,000.00 USD to purchase land.
The purchase price for the property is $130,000.00. There has been a $20,000.00 down payment already paid towards that amount. Another $80,000.00 is required by first week in March 2008. The remaining $30,000.00 can be paid at a later date. If they do not pay the $80,000.00 by March 2008 they will lose the down payment that has been paid.
Presently, there are two lots of land side by side. The first lot has been leased by JLLC for the past 8 years with buildings that serve as a children’s home for 40 children and a school for approximately 100 children in a space of 120 sq meters/1292 sq ft. The building is so cramped that some children sleep in the stairwells.
The area of the leased property is 700 sq. meters or 7535 sq. feet. So that means there is more room to grow. The landlord had this piece of land up for sale for an unreasonable sum of money. She threatened to displace this operation a number of times. We recently came to an equitable arrangement for purchase of the land.
