1. General Details About Break the Cycle
Break the Cycle Cambodia is a challenging 144 km cycling event from the Angkor Wat Temples in Siem Reap to Poipet in Cambodia, advocating for trafficked children. The goal of BTC Cambodia is to raise funds for several projects benefiting children and women rescued from the sex trade. It will be an unforgettable and inspiring journey!
The event is organized by Be A HERO Australia and Cambodia Hope Organization. Eagles Wings and Global Development Group also partner in the administration of the event. For further information on these organizations, the event visit www.breakthecycle.org.au

3. Insurance and Medical
All participants must:
Provide proof of medical insurance, including travel insurance if required by medical provider for outside of country.
Sign the waiver
It is recommended that all cyclists participating in this event receive a
medical check up to determine their capability.
Complete and submit the medical history form
Ask your medical practitioner about immunizations for travel to Cambodia
We strongly recommend malaria prophylactics.
4. Training Requirements and Speed Levels
If you have never seriously cycled before, at least two months training is required for you to reach the fitness level necessary to complete this event. Cyclists will be riding mountain bikes at 15 to 20 km per hour for 10 hours.
5. Costs Involved
Participants pay $1300 CAD to participate in the Event. These costs include polo shirt, cycling shirt, accommodation on double basis, ground transport and meals during the Event, planned tourist attractions entry fees and cultural dinner. Add $250 for optional side trip prior to the event to visit the killing fields at Phnom Penh.
Each participant is responsible for organizing their own flights to and from either Siem Reap, Cambodia or Phnom Penh; visas, travel insurance and any immunizations. Passport must be valid for 6 months after return date. Allow at least 20 working days for visa processing. Be A HERO will arrange flight from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap for those choosing this optional side trip.
Deposit - $750 CAD
- Reservation fee of $250 payable at time of registration. This fee is non-refundable after Oct 1, 2011
- Balance of deposit $500 payable by Sept 1, 2011 ($750.00 balance if adding the Phnom Penh option)
Balance of trip $550 due Oct 1, 2011

6. Fundraising
Each participant’s goal is to raise $5000 which is tax-receiptable for the donors. The beneficiary of proceeds from Break the Cycle Cambodia is Cambodia Hope Organization, a partner of Be A HERO working with vulnerable children including girls rescued from the sex trade, orphans and street children. Upon receipt of the completed General Details form, participants will be sent donation forms and promotional materials to assist in fundraising. This event will assist children intercepted from the sex trade in a tangible way! For further information on the project visit www.beahero.org
7. Bicycles
Participants will be riding mountain bikes that have been donated from Australia. The bikes will be donated to AIDs patients at the end of the ride. If you wish to ride your own bike you will be responsible for shipping to and from Siem Reap,.
7. Support Crew
This event cannot function without a dedicated and hard-working support crew who are part of the team working to achieve the event’s goals. We require drivers, navigators, general helpers and media crew.
8. Age Restriction
Children under the age of 19 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
9. Child Protection
For child protection purposes, all participants over the age of 19 must read and sign the Child Protection Policy.
