CHILDREN'S WELFARE MISSION

Be A HERO partners with Children’s Welfare Mission in expansion of their children’s home at Namugongo, Uganda.

In 1986,  the present chairman and founder of the foundation (at that time called ‘Friends of the African Children’s choir) Mr. Mathijs Piet, became involved with the plight of a children’s choir made up of Ugandan orphans who spent three months in The Netherlands – having had to flee from their country because of the war situation there. In 1987 – the first steps were taken (together with an American charity ‘Ambassadors of Hope’) to set up an orphanage in Uganda. In 1989 the foundation ‘Children’s Welfare Mission’ decided to proceed as an independent organization.

The Children’s Welfare Mission is an independent Ugandan  NGO, registered under the number: S.5914/239. The Dutch based foundation Kinderhulp Afrika, carries the responsibility for the Children’s Welfare Mission and raises funds for the support and development of the Children’s Welfare Mission.

The goal of the organization is to provide homes, medical care and education to children who have been orphaned – and are without family -  as a result of civil war and epidemics, teaching them to function independently both socially and economically.
